and I say that because there is nothing more disgusting than giddy people who win tickets to a dead man's memorial. I'm referring to the Michael Jackson memorial and some of those "jackpot" ticket winners to the event. You'd think they won the lottery! Where is the sense of respect here? I just want to kick these folks in the face.
I can't believe how this man's death has escalated the actions, once again, of what I feel is a country that continues to display its greed-- even in these "difficult economic times". Every person/business is taking full advantage of what they can get out of the unfortunate demise of a long-time public entertainer.
What's worse, of course, is the (as usual) sensationalism and disrespect exhibited by the media that reports this ticket-winning behavior as noteworthy/tasteful news. Their own (the media) giddy manner suggests that this is not a memorial, but some sort of entertainment venue like the Superbowl.
I don't expect Michael will be rising from the tomb to enthrall us with a golden never-seen-before Thriller performance that has since then and never before been, matched-- HEAR YE GREEDY BASTARDS OF THE UNIVERSE: Michael Jackson is dead, there is no half-time dance-- there will be no live, dancing corpses. All of this I can only presume of course, I may be biting my tongue once the service is actually over and the Staples Center is littered with beer cups, popcorn bags, and Mardi Gras beads.
It saddens me. The media interviewed maybe one or two humble people who won tickets and didn't scream, jump up and down, and wave their tickets in the air like they were going to Las Vegas.
