The following photos of my desk display it as being the neatest it has been in a while. I like my desk. I spend a lot of time here. My desk is hardly what some would describe as a place of stern concentration. Unlike a lot of folks, I need things around me, a lot of the time, to focus. I need these not-so-serious reminders that the world doesn't have to be such a complicated place all of the time -- even if I'm the middle of something that is driving me crazy. For me, those things are usually cute things like toys. This desk is actually an art/craft desk. I use it for crafts too sometimes -- when I can find room. To the left of my computer is a holiday elf I'm planning to put together soon. That shouldn't require much working space.
My favorite desk toy right now is the little monkey snow globe that Dave recently bought me during one of our many trips to the hospital. It has a switch on the bottom, that when turned on, the globe changes colors. It was another one of those little surprises when we're in a store together and I see something cute, funky, or fun. Dave usually finds a way to pick it up without me noticing and buying it. Many times this has happened and I've dicovered it once we've arrived at the checkout counter. Of course, I hardly protest the purchase. Though, I might add, my tastes in toys aren't expensive. So what the hey?
Other toys strewn about there have come from various places like Great America Amusement Park, McDonalds, Walgreens and other local stores. The big pink monster was an after Valentine's Day bargain for $1. When you squeeze its stomach, it sings a song about being a "love machine". The Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer pen (it lights up when you write) came from Office Depot -- it cost a whoppin' penny after the holidays last year. The bird pen was a birthday gift from Dave as well as the two Tiniest Pet Shop dogs, a little congrats for when I lost weight recently. I love the Littlest Pet Shop toys and will definitely buy my future kid a bunch of them so I can play with them too.
To the left of my computer (see first photo above) I keep scrap paper and notecards. Below, and to the right of my desk are three drawers with tons of pens, markers, stickers, and various other stationary type supplies. I also have a magazine basket for stowing my folders and files. You can also see my headphones there for listening to music or watching videos. There is a stool in the corner to the right of my desk that usually houses several of my purses, pouches, and other miscellanous items. I periodically find myself having fights with that stool. (Don't ask.)
The photo with our cat Miles is Dave's desk. It's, actually, more cluttered than mine (hehe).
As you can see, my computer displays this post in the making. So there is my desk, in all my own special pack-rat's glory. Cheers!
